Saturday September 22nd, the RWRG B team: The B-Headers travelled to Rutland to take part in their first bout.  The hosts, Mean Valley Rollergirls were fresh from a convincing victory just a week earlier against The Shoetown Slayers, the B-Headers were prepared for a challenge along with some heavy hits and Mean Valley delivered!

With strong defensive walls from Skin ‘N Blister, Bartlett and Piplash, impressive jamming from Sophie Ellis Decks Her, Trice, Rambo Blackshanks and Riley Cyrus and tactical leadership from Walker (captain) the B-Headers managed to open up an impressive lead of over 60 points in the first period, however a few power jams in Mean Valley’s favour saw the gap close throughout the second half.

But the Windsor team who have been playing together just a few  months, kept their heads and at the final whistle, the score; Mean Valley 150, RWRG B-Headers 178.

Congratulations to Sophie Ellis Decks Her for winning best jammer, to Riley Cyrus for her MVP award (both players have been skating just 7 months) and to Skin ‘N Blister for her Best Blocker award.

“I’m so proud of the B-headers! We stuck together, had great teamwork, stayed calm and in the end we had a lot of fun”  B-Headers captain, Cat Walker.

You can see the B-Headers in action again on October 6th in Windsor.

Congratulations also to Windsor players 12 Bar Bruise and Steflon who played on opposite teams in Saturdays warm-up game.  Steflon who joined Windsor just 3 months ago, stood out as an impressive blocker and jammer and was awarded MVP. 12 Bar Bruise proved herself to be an immovable blocker with great teamwork.  This was 12 Bar Bruise’s first and last game as a Windsor Rollergirl as she leaves to start a new life in Cambridge, we wish her all the best at her new team, Romsey Town Rollerbillies.
