Roller Derby fans at Windsor Leisure Centre were treated to one of the most exciting, tense and close games in Windsor’s history this Saturday.  Lincolnshire came armed with heavy hits, powerful offence and  strong walls in this their first game of the 2013 season.  Despite a series of recent successes Windsor were not taking anything for granted and having played Lincolnshire twice before knew they were in for a tough game.

A power jam in Lincolns favour in the first jam saw Florence the Machine picking up 10 points and an early lead for Lincolnshire, jam 15 saw Windsor’s CruciVix picking up 29 points in a power jam and the score at half time: Windsor 74, Lincolnshire 73.  Windsor managed to hold on to a small lead throughout the second period but with just 4 minutes on the clock and a lead of only 19 points: a power jam to the Bombers.  Windsor blockers worked hard to minimise the damage, final score Windsor 144, Lincolnshire Bombers 140.

This was Windsors 4th game of 2013, their 4th win and excitingly their first ever WFTDA sanctioned game.  ‘Who Dares Windsor’ will be taking a short break from public bouting to prepare for a WFTDA tournament in Belgium, May 10th to 12th.  However you can see Windsors ‘B’ team, the ‘B-Headers’ take on the mighty Sheffield Steel Rollergirls next Saturday, March 23rd in Sheffield (buy tickets here) and again in Windsor on April 13th when they take on Bristol’s B team, tickets on sale soon.

Player awards went to:
